Thank you for the very useful tips. I'm wondering about the word limit though. The question says to write between 120 to 150 words. How closely do we have to follow it?

This is a bit tricky because it all depends on your school teacher. My advice is ask your teacher what to do and listen to her. MOE has given the guide lines but it's still up to the respective school teachers to allow the number of words for students to write because at the end of the day it is they who are going to mark the papers.... As for my students I ask them to write 250 words.
You're welcome...
my teacher said we can use more than 150 words.. I wrote 319 words on the pt3 trial

Teacher can I send my essays to this blog for marking?
I'm quite busy with my work right now.....but, you can send your work and I can check it for you when I have the time....ok! Send it to this email add [email protected]
teacher, may I ask your opinion on what should I do in order to widen my vocabs? My teacher told me that my vocabs seems to be limited, though.afterall, I'm not a person that can read a dictionary. Plus, if I've got questions regarding this subject, may I email you?
Reading is one way you could increase your vocab base. For example, read the local STAR newspaper. Look for news about crimes, road accidents, flood etc and jot down the terms used for describing the incidents. You can a scrap book to write down the vocabs...later, go through them and try to use them in your writing... All the best...! ***You may email me for personal development only not for your school work or school assignments...ok!

Teacher could please teach me full format for article? :)
Hi Huda, There is no specific format for an article. Writing an article is just like writing a normal essay. Give a 'TITLE' for your article and depending on the question, you can write for example.... by Huda at the left end corner of your article.
Teacher~~~~~where r u now
I was busy, therefore no time to check on my blog....I'm still quite busy with my lesson plans....Yes, is there anything I can help you with, Huda...?
Can teacher show how to write Tis essay? To make it interesting I mean.
Teacher show Me full essay pls because although there are notes but teacher wants us to write this essay interesting to be pass up to her.sorry you can don't do it but I need a interesting and A essay so that I can complete my work THX
Hi how to write the third paragraph ? Help me pls
Dear student, let me be firm here....I do not believe in giving fish to my students-no matter how hard they ask for it- I believe in giving them the fishing rod. I just tell them to go fish themselves for I have taught them how to fish and also given one or two fish to them....In current global scenario, one must learn to be independent and not rely too much on teachers for help. Therefore, I would strongly encourage all you students out there to give your best and learn from mistakes---to be an expert angler one needs to be very patient and skillful -- same goes with writing an essay....!
Teacher where r u ?
I wrote 403 words for my PT3 Essay trials today. The word limit is the same and 4 points were given but they required us to give two more points of our own aswell. I'm wondering if any marks would be deducted? If so, how many and will it effect my grade a lot?
You have written a very long essay - I am sure your teacher will penalize you because the required words are roughly 180 - depending on your teacher's discretion it can be 200-250 words. Anything more than that is way too long....but, it all depends on your teacher.
Hi. I would like to ask , what will happen if the picture given is just a normal picture of a family spending time together. And the instructions were 'you and your family is spending time by the beach' and I wrote my own story as in like I made my own story that is not shown in the picture but still relates to the people in the picture. Will my mark be deducted?
Did you write anything about the beach.....?
Teacher how can i remember my new vocabs..?for example, when i am reading for a book...the wimpky book.i found one word that i normally seen it before but do know its meaning...i find it in the dictionary but tomorrow i lost everything about it....i'm trying to remember it but i can't..why teacher..?how i can fix my problem to improve my english for my pt3 this year??can you help me??
Teacher how can i remember the vocabs...sometimes when i don't know about the meaning of the words..i search it in the dictionary but i'm still cannot remember it until tomorrow...why...i don't think that i must always chek out it in the dictionary when i'm gonna to use that word..i mean hear not just one word but more than that...i don't know what i'm suppose to do...especially for my essay...if my vocabs are limited and lack..how can i make the good essay for pt3 this year...can you help me teacher(helpful teacher)..?
From what you have mentioned I can see that you do really put a lot of hard work to improve your English vocabularies...it's a good start Aiman....but, as you know there's no short cut to success...therefore, in order to improve your vocab-do a lot of reading and writing essays in English and ask someone to check them for you...the best person would be your teacher....All the best Aiman...
Good afternoon, teacher.I am writing essays recently and posted them on my blog.I hope teacher can check and comment about them. This the link: http://studytogether1234.blogspot.my/search/label/PT3%20Essay
I write this essay and hope teacher can check it. Snatch theft cases have been bandied about by the public.Local dailies also shows that the number of snatch theft cases escalating and ringing alarm bells across the country.Recently,I became an eye witness of this cruel action. The incident just occurred right in front of my eyes. It was a windy day and I was walking to my school for my extracurricular activities.I was striding on a leisurely way as the weather was favourable. On the opposite road,Mrs. Tan,my neighbour was waiting to catch a bus for work.I waved to her but she did not notice me as she was engrossed texting on her handphone.I continued my walk to school. On the opposite direction of road, there was a motorcycle coming furiously.Their faces were covered with helmets.I did not give much thought about them as I was going to late to my school.Out of blue, the motorcyclist zoomed past her and the pillion rider snatched Mrs. Tan's handbag. She had butterflies in her stomach when she felt a strong tug on his handbag. She tried to get back her handbag. He held her handbag strongly.Mrs. Tan screamed at the top of her voice for seeking help. The pillion rider kicked her in cold storage and they successfully snatched her handbag. I was stunned at that moment.I could not think of anything. However,I managed to note the registration number of the motorcycle.I quickly ran to Mrs. Tan and tried to lend a hand to her.She was in trauma. Her arms were bruised.I quickly decided to call the police and lodged a complaint.I also called Mr. Tan,her husband to bring her back home.Mr. Tan,drove his car as fast as lightning and arrived at the scene in the nick of time.He brought his wife to the clinic which is a stone's throw from that place. I was frightened by the incident.Upon walking to school,I was thinking about the incident.I was sad for Mrs. Tan and at the same time angry with the thieves. They were willing to harm the other for money without humanity.I hoped not to be a witness of this incident again in the future. Safety precautions have to be taken in order to prevent from being a snatch theft victim.Snatch thieves usually home in women who become a sitting duck.In order to be safe, women should learn martial arts to protect them.Besides,we should not walk in deserted lanes alone. We should also be on the lookout of suspicious people.Lastly,do not flaunt money and valuable in public places. As the saying goes, prevention is better than cure.

You have written quite a lenghty essay. Good for you Sathya... 1)Snatch theft cases have been (bandied) about by the public- what is "bandied" in this context. 2)Some of the words used do not fit in or are inappropriate. 3)Sentence structure and grammar needs improvement. 4)Use appropriate adjectives... *Overall it is nicely written...keep up the good work and all the best...! dear madam, thank you for your sharing. i want to ask you on the last question in pt3 exam. it is on the novels. is it a compulsory question? as in my school, we never have a single question on the novel in our previous exams. i hope you may clarify on this. thank you.
Yes, it is a compulsory question and I am not a madam(lol).
Thank you for your sharing, it is really helpful. May i ask you a favor? i have a problem, which i do not understand clearly about the novel, how i met myself. how should i write it to get full marks? thank you in advance.
Sir/madam can i know?? Article essay same with another essay or not
Article 1. Must have a 'TITLE' 2. Writer's Name/Signature 3. 5 paragraph essay That's all....
hello madam is there any tips for pt3 this year
hi,I'm really appreciate this essay. So,can i ask if 'I witnessed the incident,so how should i do?"and what should i express for the feeling
You're welcome..as for your question, you can read my sample essay above.
Whenever I write an essay,I have trouble controlling the number of my words and keep writing 370 to 500+ words (And sometimes more which annoyed and impressed my teacher at the same time) Any tips on how I can write shorter essays?
My suggestion :- Intro - 20 words Point 1 - 35 words Point 2 - 35 words Point 3 - 35 words Conclusion - 25 words Total words of 150. Now, this is just a simple format which you can try and use. Ask your teacher how many words (max)she would allow you to write and then do your own arrangement...ALL THE BEST!
Thank you very much for the useful notes. I know how to plan it but I couldn't really describe it amazingly to impress teacher when I start to write especially the bombastic word/phases. How can I elaborate it as teacher did above? My elabrote quite sucks
Dear Anonymous, one the most common reasons why students find it hard to express their thoughts is due to lack of reading articles or books or anything which had got to do with English. Reading materials written in English will help them to write better essays.Plus reading also will increase one's vocabulary list and sharpen their style of writing.
Teacher, may I send teacher some of my essay for teacher to mark? I really hope to improve my english before the major examination arrives
Now I'm free and I don't mind checking your essay...(you caan send it to this add (https://drive.google.com/drive/my-drive)try and see if cannot I'll give my email add....
May I know how I can improve my descriptive essay skills?
Hello. May I know how will you guide your students to write during PT3? According to the KSSM format, you can only write LESS THAN 150 WORDS. During the real PT3 exam, are we allowed to write more than that? According to my teacher, I shouldn't. Moreover, my teacher has 100% not taught me the technique for the 150 words essay. As students, it is extremely complicated to write less than 150 words. I need some explanation. SO, FOR THE PT3 2019 AND SO ON, ARE WE ALLOWED TO WRITE MORE THAN 150? TQ.
Hi, a good question. Well, personally, it is difficult to write a 120 words essay if you are good but if you are not then it is not a problem.Yes, in the previous PT3 exams, students were allowed to write more than 150 words but in the new 2019 PT3 format, students are advised to write about 80 words for PART1 and about 120 words in PART 2. The reason is to train students to write within the limited word scope and not to drag too much on unnecessary explanations.
Hi teacher..may I ask you something??Can I just make the essay very simple..means, I just make it short..just kind of 1 paragraph???Can I do like that in my exam??It is because I'm always forget to do more than 1 paragraph in my essay (exam) because the time is too short actually..For me, I should make an essay story for 1 hour actually. But, it doesn't mean that I got too many ideas come out but I'm too weak to do essay in exam
No, you are not allowed to write in one paragraph. If you find it hard to write 5 paragraph, you can try a 3 paragraph essay that is INTRO(1)-BODY(1)-CONCLUSION(1). Start with an INTRO (first paragraph). Cram all your points in BODY (second paragraph-one paragraph) and close it with a CONCLUSION (third paragraph - one paragraph). Keep it all in the limit of 120 words if you can.
Hi teacher..Can I ask you something?? By the way, I'm a bit confused on making conclusion in my essay actually..I'm not really understand on how to make it..Can you give me some tips?? Will you??
Hi WawaZzz, very interesting comment. Writing a conclusion for English essay is a bit tricky because it depends on the type of question and essay format. If, the format is a letter then you can use the type of conclusion I have given in my sample letter essays on this blog but if it is a different format then you have to write a proper conclusion for it. There is no so called right or wrong conclusion for the English essay. For more tips on writing essays read my sample essays on this blog and watch my videos on my https://www.youtube.com/user/Kopitiamenglish ...ok
Hi teacher!.Can I ask you somrthing? Why you use proverb?
It helps to spice up your essay. Proverbs also can be used to teach and educate your readers.

PT3 English Essay: What You Need To Know

When preparing for examinations, one of the first things you need to do is familiarise yourself with the format. Understanding the tasks that you have to complete will help increase your chances of scoring well in the examination. So let’s take a look at the overall PT3 English exam format.
PT3 English has four papers that test the fundamental skills required to master a language. Here’s the breakdown of the papers:
Paper 1 - reading and comprehension skills
Paper 2 - essay writing skills
Paper 3 - speaking skills
Paper 4 - listening skills
To learn more about the different papers and how you can prepare for them, click here .
PT3 English Paper 2 Format: The Basics
In this article, we’ll be focusing on the essay-writing component. Before we go any further, here’s what you need to know about the PT3 English Paper 2:
The paper is divided into two parts.
You will need to write two essays in total.
The time allocated for this paper is 60 minutes.
As each essay is worth 20 marks, the total mark for this paper is 40.
You should spend around 25 minutes on your Part 1 essay and the remaining 35 minutes on Part 2. Remember to allocate time to outline, write and check your essays! Now that we’ve gotten an overview of the paper, we’re all set to delve deeper into each of the PT3 English essay questions. We’ve also sprinkled useful tips throughout this article so make sure you don’t miss out on that!
PT3 English Essay Part 1: Short Communicative Message

In this question, a short text will be provided and you will need to respond to it in about 80 words. There are three types of short communicative messages that you may come across in this question. They are:
Message/Note
You’d be happy to know that whichever type of text is given, the approach to writing your reply essay is pretty much the same!
Firstly, make sure you read the question carefully. You could be asked to respond to an invitation, give reasons for something, provide a few suggestions or share some advice. We find it helpful to highlight or underline the key requirements in the question to make sure you don’t miss anything!
Before you start writing your essay, you should be clear about:
Who are you writing to?
What is the main purpose of the essay?
What must you include in your reply?
As for the structure, this PT3 English essay can be broken down into five components:
Salutation
The good news is, you don’t need to worry much about salutations as it is usually given in the answer space with the new format. However, if you’re answering practice questions on a blank paper, you can use simple greetings like ‘Hi’, ‘Hello’ or ‘Dear’.

Introduction
Keep your introduction short and sweet. Around 3 sentences should do the trick! There is no need to start your essay with phrases like ‘How are you?’’. Your response should be directly related to the topic.
In the last sentence of the introduction, insert your main point or suggestion. For example, if you’re asked to recommend a holiday destination, this is where you can name the location.
This is where you elaborate on your point by giving two to three reasons or explanations to support your main point.
Since this PT3 English essay is only 80 words long, you should try to offer details concisely. If you’re struggling to expand your point, think about examples that you can include as part of your explanation.
The closing can simply be in one sentence. Just think of what you would normally say to a friend or family member at the end of a conversation. To help you, here are some generic phrases that you can customise as appropriate:
Hope this is helpful!
I look forward to…
Let me know…
Lastly, remember to sign off with a name at the bottom of the essay!
PT3 English Essay Part 2: Notes Expansion

This essay is sometimes referred to as the long essay which may ring the alarm bells for some of you. However, there is no need to worry as writing 120 words for this PT3 English essay doesn’t have to be intimidating.
As the name suggests, you will be given some notes which you could use to expand on in your essay. While not compulsory to include, the notes provide you with an outline to help plan your essay. We highly suggest that you take full advantage of the notes given. It's there for a reason and will make your job must easier!
The notes act as prompts to help you think about what you could potentially include in your essay. In many sample questions, the notes are presented in the form of a mindmap but the approach will be similar even if they are in text or bullet point form.
When you’re planning this PT3 English essay, you can scribble down ideas that come to mind based on the prompts. Then, you should be able to construct around three to four sentences to respond to each prompt.
As being organised is key to writing a good essay, we would recommend you to break down the essay into five paragraphs, consisting of your introduction, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion.
If you’re struggling to expand your content paragraphs, here’s what you can do. Whenever you think of a point, don’t stop there. Try to include some explanations and examples to make your essay more detailed and interesting. You can then conclude the paragraph using sentence connectors such as ‘Therefore’, ‘Hence’ and ‘So.’’
One of our favourite acronyms to remember all this is PEEC which stands for:
E: Explanation
C: Conclusion
So next time, don’t forget to use PEEC to help expand your points and structure your paragraphs in this PT3 English essay!
Final Reminders

Allocate time for you to read through again and check your essays. Refer back to the question to ensure that the content in your essay is relevant to the task and look out for any grammar or spelling errors.
Don’t overwrite as you may find yourself running out of time or making unnecessary mistakes. The word count and suggested time are there for a reason.
When you’re coming up with ideas for the essay, don’t be afraid to think creatively! (as long as it makes sense)
